Chalk Pastel Still Life

Discover the vibrant beauty of chalk pastels as you create a colorful still life featuring a vase of fresh flowers. This workshop introduces participants to the expressive qualities of soft pastels while exploring the fundamentals of composition, color, light, and texture. Step-by-step, learn techniques for layering and blending pastels, creating rich color transitions, capturing the delicate forms of flowers, and adding depth with highlights and shadows.

Colored Pencil - Mouse & Dandelion

Capture the charm of nature as you create an adorable mouse nestled among delicate dandelions. Students will learn essential colored pencil techniques while developing a finished drawing that emphasizes texture, color, and fine details, along with foundational skills such as layering and blending color, creating soft fur textures. The instructor will guide students through sketching the composition, building realistic details, and bringing the scene to life.

Theatre Improv

Step out of your comfort zone and into the spotlight! Come learn the fundamentals of improv through engaging games, creative exercises, and group scene work. Participants will build confidence, improve communication skills, think on their feet, and strengthen creativity while embracing the core principle of improv. Along the way, you'll develop quick-thinking abilities, teamwork, active listening, and stage presence—all while sharing plenty of laughs. Pack a lunch. No memorization or acting experience is required.

Fused Glass Lantern

Explore the art of glass fusing and create your own unique 4-panel glass lantern using colorful glass pieces. Learn to cut, arrange, and fuse glass in a kiln to craft a functional, artistic lantern that will illuminate your home with a warm, personalized glow. Choose from assorted designs or make up your own. Please bring a lunch.

Witches Broom Making

Step into the spirit of the season and create your own spooky, handcrafted witch’s broom—perfect for Halloween décor, ritual magic, or flying under the full moon. You'll use natural materials and eerie embellishments like dried herbs, bones, ribbons, feathers, and charms to make a broom as haunting as it is beautiful.

Clay Tentacle Monster Pot

Create a delightfully creepy Halloween decoration in this fun, hands-on polymer clay workshop! Students will transform an ordinary flowerpot into a one-of-a-kind "Monster Pot" by sculpting expressive clay tentacles, suction cups, scales, and other eerie details that appear to be crawling from inside the pot. This workshop introduces basic hand-building and sculpting techniques, learning how to shape, texture, and attach clay elements to create dynamic tentacles and other monstrous features. Complete your piece with paint and decorative finishes.

Watercolor Fundamentals

Discover the beauty and versatility of watercolor. Students will learn watercolor basics including brush control, color mixing, washes, layering, blending, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques, and creating texture and depth. Through step-by-step demonstrations and guided practice, students will gain confidence in controlling water and pigment while exploring composition, light, and color.

Gothic "Poe" Writing

2 Saturdays: October 17 & 24, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Step into the mysterious world of gothic literature in this creative writing workshop inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe. This course explores the elements that define Poe's unforgettable stories and poems, including atmosphere, suspense, symbolism, psychological tension, and the macabre. Through guided discussions, writing prompts, and creative exercises, participants will examine techniques used to build mood, develop compelling characters, and craft haunting settings. Participants will experiment with writing short fiction, poetry, and flash fiction inspired by gothic themes while developing their own unique voice. No previous creative writing experience is required. Students will complete several short original works.

Potato Rivel Soup

Discover the comforting flavors of Grandma Dodson’s Pennsylvania Dutch homemade Potato Rivel Soup (direct from the instructors’ recipes), a hearty, rustic dish featuring tender potatoes, rich broth, and delicate handmade rivels—tiny flour dumplings that are simple to make and full of tradition. Our instructors will guide you through preparing the soup from scratch, sharing tips for creating light, tender rivels, and building delicious flavor with fresh ingredients. This cooking workshop is perfect for an individual, friends, or couple, and is taught by a ServSafe certified instructor.
