The Community Arts Center of Cambria County is pleased to announce its annual Scholarship Award Program for senior art students residing in Cambria County. This year, the Community Arts Center has available to award four (4) scholarships: The Abe, Janet and Blanche Beerman Award of $500, the Mary Burkhart Award of $350, the Gretchen Pollak Award of $300, and the Benefit Foundation of 1st Summit Bank Professionals Award of $300. These four scholarships, offered to individual students, hold an approximate value of $1,900.

We are so pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Allied Artists of Johnstown to bring additional scholarships to be awarded. 3 scholarships have been added.

Allied Artists of Johnstown Legacy Scholarships:

  • Scholarship 1 - $2500
  • Scholarship 2 - $1500
  • Scholarship 3 - $1000

Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Juror. The eligibility requirements are: (1) the senior student must plan to continue a formal education in the field of art, as his/her primary major, immediately after graduation and must be able to do so financially, and (2) the senior student must present a portfolio for judging.

How to Apply

*Forms may be downloaded at the bottom of this page!*

Any high school senior student who plans to continue formal education by majoring in the field of art is invited to apply. Art is to be the primary major, not secondary. If student changes his/her major, the remaining portion of the scholarship will be void.

To apply: Download and complete the application form (located below) and forward to the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd, Johnstown, Pennsylvania 15905.

Application form must be received at the above address by Friday, April 29th, 2022 by 5 PM.

Procedure

Once the application form has been received, an appointment will be arranged for Saturday, May 7th, 2022. The applicant will present a portfolio of artwork for jurying. On this day, students will have an oral interview and the juror will evaluate each portfolio. Each appointment will last 15 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time. The decision of the juror will be made solely on the artistic merit of the works included in the portfolio. (A portfolio may include a range of media presentations.)

Scholarship Award winners will be notified of the juror’s decision within a week after jurying.
