
Join us for a variety of arts and crafts for all ages, live music from our friends The Sharptones, and delicious food as we celebrate Flag Day for the 250th anniversary of the United States of America!
ESSAY CONTEST RULES:
• Everyone ages 7 and up are invited to submit an essay responding to the prompt "What the American Flag means to me."
• Submissions will be divided into four age divisions (ages 7 - 10, ages 11 - 13, ages 14 - 17, and adults ages 18+), with one cash award winner chosen for each division.
• For paper submissions: Please provide a completed cover sheet with the essay that includes the contestant's name, grade, name of school, home address, and phone number. (For adults, please omit parents’ names, grade, and name of school on cover sheet.) The cover sheet must be filled out LEGIBLY and COMPLETELY. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
• For digital submissions: Please fill out the Google form (link on the homepage at caccc.org) in its entirety. This form will include all of the information on the cover sheet, as well as the option to copy and paste your essay submission into the form.
• There is NO entry fee!
• Essays submitted after the contest deadline will not be accepted.
• All essays shall be the work of only one individual.
• Use of AI in writing essays is strictly prohibited.
• Essays submitted with offensive or lewd language or content discriminatory towards any race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, or political party will be disqualified.
• Essays must meet the following length requirements:
◦ Little Liberty: Division 1 - Ages 7 - 10: 250 - 350 word count (1st Prize-$100; 2nd Prize-$70 *LHB)
◦ Star-Spangled: Division 2 - Ages 11 - 13: 350 - 500 word count (1st Prize-$250; 2nd Prize-$175 *LHB)
◦ Stars and Stripes: Division 3 - Ages 14 - 17: 500 - 650 word count (1st Prize-$300; 2nd Prize-$210 *LHB)
◦ Resolute All-American Writers: Division 4 - Ages 18 and up: 750-1,000 word count (1st Prize-$500; 2nd Prize-$350 *LHB)
• The winners will be invited to read their essays at our Flag Day celebration on June 14, 2026 at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County.
