Students will use 3D styled methods to create unique one-of-a-kind pieces. Using little to no paint, we will be using different materials weekly to enhance these canvases instead. Students will experiment with plaster, clay, hot glue art, beads, diamond art, sand, seashells and glitter. Through a variety of surfaces such as canvas, glass jars, decorative plates, flowerpots, wooden plaques, clear wine bottles, and coasters, weekly projects will come to life and jump out in 3D.

This class offers the very basics and understanding of learning about clay, including clay prep, wedging, hand-building, coil making, pinch pots, and an intro to wheel throwing. Repeat this class several times to maximize and expand your skills! No long fingernails and no hand jewelry. Please bring a towel with you.

In this unique paper-mâché class, students will utilize random, household, and recyclable items to create their forms to paper-mâché. Paper mâché is a craft technique that involves gluing layers of paper together to create sculptures, decorations, and other art. Students will have the luxury of choosing from a variety of subjects to create, with a concentration on
bestiary. Bestiary is a compendium of beasts or animals, both real or imaginary, and their place in the natural world, allowing students to let their creativity go as far as they are willing to take it! Once dried, students will paint and decorate their creations.

Ashley Bennett is certified Sign Language Interpreter and Teacher of the Deaf. She will help students learn the basics of American Sign Language (ASL), the 3rd most used language in the United States. It is the naturally acquired and shared language of the Deaf community. In this beginner ASL class, students will learn ABCs, 123s, greetings, family, activities, places, animals, and colors. Students will develop vocabulary and beginning grammar to hold simple conversations.

This exciting class will explore hand papermaking and creative bookbinding. Each student can expect to produce several sheets of handmade paper, a pamphlet bound book, as well as a book using the Japanese stab binding method and a ‘smash’ style book.

This simple design allows students to craft each glass panel to reflect the perfect outdoor ambiance to complete your summer and early fall evenings outdoors. The theme choices are limitless—flowers, plants, leaves, celestial, moon phases, and more. Insert the panels into a metal lantern frame to finish your customized lantern!

This class introduces the craft of plot and dialogue writing for the theatre. Through weekly in-class writing exercises, students will explore scene structure, action, events, voice, and dialogue. Each student will complete a rough draft of a script by the completion of the last class, defining characters, dialogue, action, and scenes. An emphasis will be placed on process, risk-taking, and finding one’s own voice and vision for their completed script.

During this super unique class students will explore techniques of the lost art of ironing. Students will learn a variety of tips and trick to achieve a wrinkle free garment, while following the 6 main steps of ironing: Prepare Your Iron, Turn Garments Inside Out, Begin Ironing, Smooth Out Wrinkles, Use Steam, Hang and Fold. These steps will be taught with specifics. Students must bring 5 clothing items to each class.

Learn how to hand-build clay works of art with your partner, or create one-of- a-kind pieces all your own!
