It’s HOLLY-day Time, again! The 50th HOLLY BAZAAR, WOODEN CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL, and BASKET BONANZA open in November. To “our” craftsmen who have participated in previous Holly Bazaars, and to new craftsmen, it’s your wonderful items that supply us with merchandise for the Holly Bazaar.
The Holly Bazaar is a multifaceted holiday celebration that begins Saturday, November 14th and runs through Christmas Eve, December 24th. The Community Arts Center will be open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from Noon to 5 PM during the Holly Bazaar.
As part of the 50th anniversary of the Holly Bazaar, there will be additional space to expand returning vendors’ inventory and accommodate new vendors. Because of this growth, the Community Arts Center will require ALL vendors, returning and new, to be juried this year. Every item, style, and genre of participating vendors’ items must be approved. Remember, all items must be handcrafted. Manufactured items will not be accepted into the Bazaar.
Through a partnership with Young Heart Books and Toys, the Community Arts Center will be adding a children and youth book section to the Holly Bazaar this year. A percentage from each book sold will go back to the Community Arts Center.
UPDATE 12/14/2020:
In light of Governor Wolf’s new Limited-Time Mitigation efforts, announced on December 10, 2020, the Community Arts Center of Cambria County will be adhering to the limitations that pertain to current programming and operations, such as having galleries and museums closed, and all classes and workshops will be cancelled until further notice. As for the HOLLY BAZAAR, this WILL NOT be closed. The Holly Bazaar is set up strictly as a retail operation. It has been currently operating at a 25% occupancy per room and will now be decreased to a 15% occupancy per room. This is well below the limitation set by the Governor, but something the Center feels comfortable and confident with for the best interest of its participants, volunteers, and staff. We believe this initiative is very important to the almost 80 vendors participating, and we want to encourage our community to Shop Local. Thank you for your understanding as we are looking forward to the promise of a bright future as vaccines are just around the corner.
